Recent Happenings

Emma has been growing so much lately. We are having Andy's family over for Christmas. They will be staying with us for about a week and are arriving Monday.
Emma and I will be visiting California from January 17 - 24, so I hope to see many of you there!
Among the recent happenings...

We got a new pug puppy! This happened on Wednesday... Pictures soon to come.

2 months, baby!

So, sometime recently Emma turned 2 months. The days are starting to blend together now, I look outside and wonder if it is dusk or dawn. I start thinking about getting ready for bed and then look at the clock - it's 8:24 AM.
I have a beautiful daughter who just loves mommy! She loves me so much, in fact, that she has to be held by mommy about 20 hours a day. I'm not complaining, I love my little girl. It just makes it hard to do other things, such as keep the house clean (it is an absolute WRECK right now!!!), do my schoolwork (I am keeping things up there, thanks to Andy taking Emma when he gets home), and, oh I don't know, taking a shower?
Today I have set myself to clean the house. This would have normally been an easy task. Just buckle down and it. But now, I can barely get the sheets off the bed before I hear Emma crying to be held. Which is ok! I know there will be a day when she won't want to be held so I am cherishing these moments. (It's just that we don't have any clean glasses and I'm running out of underwear...)

Ahhh, but newborn bliss. Is there anything else like it?

Why is it that all the vlogs I'm watching today are made from people who live in California... more importantly, with referrences to Los Angeles?

Homesick.

Wow, I must really love the Shay-tards or something... I have just spent the last hour watching their movies.

So, I had a whole blog post planned out, but it revolved around the first vlog I watched... and now that was a long time ago. And so, I've given that up.

I just sound like a retard... Perhaps I should start a vlog? Well then, I would have to get a video camera... Hmmmmmmmm......................

For now, ugly pics of me (the ugly one) and Emma (the pretty one)... :)

Wow, I am really missing Santa Monica right now! I think I am missing all things California. Like, I watch these videos, and it just makes me homesick.

Andy started prototype on Tuesday.

I made this picture to show how I feel about prototype. Not only do I not get to see my husband any more, (he now works from 7 to 7, which means he leaves sometimes as early as 5:30, because he has to go work out, and then doesn't get home until at least 7:30 PM.)
How does this make me feel? Not very good, considering that it's just me and Emma now. (Ok, plus Nick, but Nick only has three days off, then he goes back to his schedule of 7 PM to 7 AM... or is he on a different schedule? I'm not sure any more...)

The prototype schedules are really confusing. They have about 4 different "shifts" - all consisting of 12 hours. I now know of 2, (obviously the 7 AM to 7 PM and vice versa) but I'm not really sure of the other ones. Sammye tried explaining it to me but that was a long time ago and I've forgotten it. Perhaps experience will be the proven key.

That reminds me of an old Chinese proverb,

"I hear and I forget,
I see and I remember,
I do and I understand."

Everyone, bow to your sensei!

Emma has learned how to smile and is smiling at every opportunity now. For instance, when I play her this video. Play it for your baby and see what happens!

First Bath!

Emma had her first bath before we left for Texas (11-15). I know it really doesn't matter about the date, but I just want to be accurate.
We flew back today. It was a straightshot; a 1 hr. 15 min. flight. We were even 15 min early! So I guess that makes it 55 min. Which was good, because Emma didn't sleep the first half of this one. Thankfully, though, the air pressure didn't bother her (again...)
I've been wondering a lot about visiting California lately. My mom says that she will fly Emma and I out. I really want to go so that people like my Dad and Grammy can see her before she gets too old... I know that she's only 6 weeks today, but she's just so tiny and precious. I don't want to put it off until she's 1 year old and then you're just thinking, "whoops!"

(I'm sorry, but this just reminds me of "Dancing With the Stars...")
